Whitehead, Truitt, Mrs. (Joyce Lee Everitt)

Joyce Whitehead died at 2:07 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2005, at her residence after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born Dec. 21, 1928 in Abilene to Walter McCutchin and Lucy Mary McKay Everitt. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1946. She married Truitt Whitehead on Oct. 19, 1947 in Amarillo. The Whiteheads moved to Plainview in 1960 and she was a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter and son-in-law, Lou Ann and John Hinn of Amarillo; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cindy Whitehead of Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Ollie) Bowlin of Amarillo and Opal Veach of Morro Bay, Calif.; four grandchildren, Paul Whitehead and Whitney Whitehead of Dallas and Nathan and Addison Hinn of Amarillo; and her caregivers, Pat Jackson and Estella Flores of Plainview.

Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Whitehead Martin in 1999 and Randall Martin in 1997, and her parents, Lucy Mary McKay and Walter McCutchin Everitt.

A memorial service was held in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Bowlin, a retired pastor and brother-in-law, and Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Kornerstone Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
