Griffith, Billy Lawrence

Billy Lawrence Griffith, 90, of Olton, died Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Olton. Services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Brother David Azam officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Billy was born January 31, 1929, in Floyd County, Texas, to Johnny and Mae (Gross) Griffith. Billy served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1956. He married Norma Jo Allen on January 24, 1954. A lifetime Olton area resident, Billy was a member of the First Baptist Church. After retiring from farming, Billy was a correctional officer in Huntsville for 11 years and retired in 1994. He enjoyed water skiing, photography, and visiting at the coffee shop.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Norma Jo, in 1983, a son, Terry Griffith, in 2000, a granddaughter, Shawnda Adams, and a sister, Mary Williams.

Survivors include his son, Billy Wayne Griffith and wife Shelli of Collinsville, Ok, his daughter, Teresa Adams and husband Johnny of Olton, and a brother, Jerry Griffith of Lubbock. He was blessed with one grandson, Keeley Adams and wife Kelli of Olton and two great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Kimbal Adams.
