Givens, Joe, Mrs. (Claudine Ragsdale Barrett)

Claudine Barrett Givens, 96 of Abernathy, formerly of Cotton Center, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019. A Graveside Services is scheduled for 4 o? clock in the afternoon on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Robert Roecker, Chaplain at Accolade Hospice, officiating. An open visitation will be from 12-3 o? clock in the afternoon on Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Claudine was born on July 17, 1922 to Jesse Thomas and Lola Lee Ragsdale in Personville, TX. She married Robert Barret on January 7, 1940 and they were happily married until his passing on October 17, 2002. She then married Joe Givens on April 3, 2004 and they shared their life until his passing on June 22, 2013. Claudine was a devoted homemaker who loved and cherished raising her girls and they were longtime residents of Cotton Center. She enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts especially painting and wood art. She also enjoyed quilting. Claudine was a member of First Baptist Church in Cotton Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Lester C., Clarence and Truman Ragsdale; one sister: Neoma G. Norton.

Claudine is survived by four daughters: Heilda Cannon of Abernathy, Jo Margaret Rogers of Hale Center, Nancy Jean Barrett of Lockney, and Charlette Lee Sageser of Hale Center, one step-daughter Phyllis White of New Mexico; eleven grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
