Cole, Deryl L.
Deryl L. Cole, 90, formerly of Plainview, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019. Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:30 in the afternoon on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Pastor Matt Wolfington officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 141. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 on Saturday afternoon at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.
Deryl was born on January 19, 1929 to Luther Lee and Velma Lane Cole in Hollis, OK. He graduated from Plainview High School and attended Watson Business College. Deryl married Wanda Walker on November 7, 1987. They shared many years together and enjoyed playing 42, Bridge and traveling. He was quite the handyman and could build many things with his hands. Deryl also liked to dance. Deryl proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired after 38 years as a Colonel. He also retired from managing grain elevators in 1994.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one son: Michael Cole.
Deryl is survived by his wife: Wanda of Hurst, TX; children: Robert Cole and wife Becky of Amarillo; Sheryl Bowen and husband Donny of Houston; Jack McClendon and wife Debby of Fort Worth; Debbie Ricks and husband Harold of Hurst, TX; grandchildren: Robin and Matt Wolfington, Aaron and Amanda Cole, Collin Bowen, Kim and Brenden Porter, Jackie Ricks and Tawny Smith; Danny and wife Angela; and Carol and James Blackwood; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
