Emaline Bruington Spain, 95, of Andrews, Texas, formerly of Plainview died on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 28, 2019 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Steve Martin of Parkview Baptist Church officiating. The family will greet friends at Kornerstone before the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
Emaline was born in Mayesville, OK October 16, 1923 to Earl McGlaughlin and Younie Milam Bruington. She grew up in Petersburg and graduated from high school there. She started school for nursing in Plainview and later transferred to Lubbock. She married Odis Spain on April 9, 1944. She was employed by Plainview ISD for 32 years as a cafeteria worker or manager. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and active in her church, teaching the youth, Sunday School, VBS superintendent and teaching college age students. She loved her family, cooking, collecting recipes and she sold Avon for many years.
Emaline is survived by her daughter, Trena Dittberner and husband Tommy of Andrews, TX; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Spain of Lubbock; her sister Jenny Kersh of Plainview; her brother, Bill Bruington of Petersburg; her sister-in-law, Joyce Bruington of Plainview; her brother-in-law, Ray Brown and his wife Faye of Keller, TX; three grandchildren, Mark Spain of Lubbock, Rebecca Dittberner of Andrews, Denise Dittberner of Marble Falls; three great grandchildren, Seth and Hollie Spain, Shelby and Stephen Westmoreland, Trevor Chase Spain; two great-great grandchildren, Theodore Spain and Emmylou Spain (namesake); seven great grandcats; special friends, Bob and Bonnie Price and numerous nieces and nephews.
Emaline is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Marion Earl ?Butch? Spain and a brother, J.W. ?Dub? Bruington.
