May, Ralph,Jr., Mrs. (Jo Ann Harwell)

Jo Ann May, age 82, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. A memorial service is scheduled for 3 o? clock in the afternoon on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the 2nd and Beech Church of Christ in Plainview with Kyle Brock officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Jo Ann was born on October 30, 1936 to Hattie Margaret Harwell in Pampa, Texas. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1954 and attended West Texas State University before working for the American Quarter Horse Association in Amarillo and rodeoed as a barrel racer. Jo Ann married Ralph May Jr. on June 1, 1961 and resided in Plainview for 58 years, until her death. She worked as a clerical worker for several local businesses before retiring in 1998. She was also a member of the Bar-None Drill Team for several years. Jo Ann loved to read, she liked crossword puzzles, crafting, and sewing. Jo Ann enjoyed going to the movies and garage sales.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ralph May Jr.; and her mother.

Jo Ann is survived by two sons: Ralph May of Fort Worth, Texas and Bob May and wife Shana of Snyder, Texas; one daughter: Jan May Reeves of Plainview; three sisters: Mary Crowley of Deer Park, Washington, Donna Whitt of Las Vegas, Nevada and Patti Johnson of Caldwell, Idaho; three granddaughters: Laurie Reeves Roberson and husband Derek of Olton, Jenna Reeves Thompson and husband Cole of Lakeway, Texas and Aryn May Tatum and husband Chance of Snyder; and three great-granddaughters: Ryleigh, Hadley and Ali Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St. Jude Children?s Hospital.
