Martinez, Santos

Santos Martinez, age 66, of Plainview, passed away on April 1, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00A.M., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Reverend Bill Anton officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited Friday evening from 6-8:00P.M., at the Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Santos was born on November 2, 1951 in Plainview to Pedro and Amada (Pena) Martinez. He graduated from Plainview High School and then went on to graduate from South Plains College. He married Sylvia Lopez in 1984 in Plainview. Santos honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Santos worked for many years at Cargill until his retirement in 2013. Santos was a big fan of Tejano music and also enjoyed muscle cars. His greatest enjoyment though was spending time with his family, he loved to have big family gatherings, especially serving BBQ. He was a proud member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Santos is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Martinez of Plainview, his sons, Mark Martinez and wife Fawn, P.J. Martinez and wife Liz, one grandson, Jonathen Martinez, his sisters, Juanita Vera and husband Otto, Marge Diaz and husband Lupe, Mary Lou Martinez, Ramona Rodriguez and husband Domingo, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jobita Diaz, brother Tommy Martinez and two nephews.
