Howell, Delbert Lee

Delbert Lee Howell, 88, of Plainview passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Kornerstone Chapel with Oscar Chavez, Chaplain of Area Community Hospice. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held Friday evening, December 28, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview.

Delbert was born on April 26, 1930 in Hale County, Texas to Minnie and L.V. Howell, Sr. He farmed in Hale County and flew charter planes for Hutcherson Air Service. He owned and operated Del-Tex Aerial Spraying Service and Del-Tex Air Charter service from 1970-1990. He served on the Board of Directors of Edmonson Wheat Growers, Olton State Bank and Halfway Gin. In 1951, while living in Glendale, AZ he and his brother learned to fly at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. He continued his love of flying until his death.

Preceding him in death are his parents and his older brother, William Howell.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn; his daughter, Kay Harrell and husband Rex of Hemphill, TX; his son, Danny Howell and wife Claudia of Olton, TX; grandchildren, Megan McKinley Parker, Nathan McKinley, Heather Howell, Matt Howell, Lauren, Vannatta, Derek Howell; eight great-grandchildren; a brother L.V. Howell and wife Hattie of San Juan, TX. He is also survived by Bobbe Mathews and husband Mike with their children, Shelby and Royce of Eagle, ID; Roy Craig and wife Jessie with their daughter, Madison of Oak Leaf, TX

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Running Water Draw Care Center of Olton, EMS of Olton, Accolade Home Health of Plainview or Area Community Hospice of Plainview.
