Downs, Norman, Mrs. (Gertrude (Trudy) Barrett)

Gertrude ?Trudy? Downs, 88, of Lubbock passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Kornerstone Chapel in Plainview with Chris Collier, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Cotton Center officiating. Burial will follow in Center Plains Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening, January 3, 2019 from 5:00-6:00 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview.

Trudy was born on August 2, 1930 in Earth, Texas to John Wesley and Fannie Elizabeth (McCalip) Barrett. She attended school and graduated from Cotton Center High School in 1948. She married Norman Downs in Lubbock. Trudy worked in sales for J.C. Penneys for over 20 years. She attended Southcrest Baptist Church for years. Her girls called her their social butterfly because she loved life and she loved people.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, and three sisters.

Trudy is survived by her three daughters, Vickie Hirschfield and husband Ross of Brenham, Debbie Newsom of New Braunfels, Barbara Bass and husband Troy of Lubbock; two sisters, Virginia Easley of Dumas , Wanda Horsford and husband Ed of Hale Center, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
