Stokes, Joe, Mrs. (Barbara Laney)

Barbara Laney Stokes, 90, of Hale Center, passed away on November 21, 2018, at Santa Fe Assisted Living Center in Plainview, Texas. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Kornerstone Chapel with Larry Haddock officiating. Interment will follow in the Hale Center Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

A visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Kornerstone.

She was born September 26, 1928, in Plainview, Texas, to Coke and Irene Laney. She married Joe Stokes in 1951 in Hale Center, and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2005. Also preceding her in death was a sister Norene Laney and a grandson Chris Stokes.

Surviving are her children: Steve and Vicki Stokes of Plainview; Karoline and Kurt Ashmore of Wellington; a sister, Clara Robertson of Plainview; four grandchildren, Jeff and Cristina Stokes of Amarillo; Kayla and Jordan Fultz of Nashville, TN; Klark and Blake Ashmore of Sudan; and Kamri Ashmore of Wellington; and two great grandchildren Chris and Violet Stokes of Amarillo.
