Snelling, Elmo O.

Elmo O. Snelling, 104 of Edmonson, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:30 in the afternoon on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 9th and Columbia Church of Christ with Jerry Bevill officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 in the afternoon on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Elmo was born on July 27, 1914 to Orange C. Snelling and Delia Redeker in Frederick, Oklahoma. After graduating high school, he went on to receive his bachelor?s degree from Oklahoma State University. Elmo married the love of his life, Eva Mae Curry, on July 14, 1940 in Hollis, OK and they spent over 58 happy years together. Mae passed away on March 4, 1999. Elmo was then blessed with another life companion, Jennie Marshall. They were united in marriage on April 11, 2000 in Plainview, TX. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2006. Elmo was a farmer all his life and enjoyed restoring John Deer tractors and trains. He also loved to plant a garden every year. He was a farm bureau founding member and President of Edmonson Wheat Growers. Elmo was a member of the Church of Christ in Kress.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, and one grandchild.

Elmo is survived by two sons: Wayne Snelling of Paris, TX and Guy Snelling and wife Sherry of Plainview; two daughters: Jean Courtney and husband Tom of Arlington and Delia Silver and husband Pat of Blanchard, OK; two step-children: Tony Marshall and Brenda Martin and families; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother: Kenneth Snelling of Waldorf, Maryland.
