Jones, Tony, Mrs. (Wanda Joy Gilliland)

Wanda Joy Jones, 87, of Plainview passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Plainview. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 21, 2018 at Kornerstone Chapel. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview

Wanda was born on December 16, 1931 to R.D. and Edith (Thompson) Gilliland in Floydada, Texas. She was raised in Muleshoe and married Tony Jones on August 2, 1951 in Muleshoe, Texas. After 57 years of marriage, he died on June 30, 2008. She was a hairdresser and worked as a payroll clerk at Plainview ISD. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she volunteered in the nursery and as a Cradle Roll Walker. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and both of her sons eventually became Eagle Scouts. She and Tony were members of the Good Sam?s Club up until Tony?s death.

She is survived by two sons, Kaci W. Jones and wife Kendra of Amarillo, Steve K. Jones and wife Karen of Ventura, CA; one brother, Eddie Ray Gilliland of Roswell, NM; one sister, Margaret Stevens of Muleshoe; six grandchildren, Kristen Bigbee, Kourtney Frohlich, Kaitlin Jones, Sara Jones, Colin Jones, Tegan Jones; and six great grandchildren.
