FRIONA -- Funeral services for Johnny Tannahill, 60, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Patterson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Plainview by Rix Funeral Directors of Hereford. Mr. Tannahill died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, in Ochiltree General Hospital in Perryton.
He was born Nov. 25, 1944, to G.E. Tannahill and Leta Morrison Tannahill and grew up and attended schools in Lockney. In 1961 he moved to Friona where he graduated from Friona High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division -- the "Screaming Eagles."
Self-employed, he owned Shortgrass, Inc., Tannahill Farms and Tannahill Auction. Mr. Tannahill served as a Parmer County Commissioner and assisted with the Friona 4-H and FFA stock shows. He was a member of United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include his companion, Cheryl Langlinais of Friona; a daughter, Lory Barker of Plano; a son, John Mark Tannahill of Arlington; two step-daughters, Brandy Langowski of Fort Lee, Va., and Cheraye Rubio of Friona; a stepson, Nathan Spence of Ramona, Calif.; a sister; Elizabeth Tannahill of Keller; a brother, Eugene Tannahill of Lockney; and seven step-grandchildren. His parents are deceased.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 tonight at Rix Funeral Directors in Hereford. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assn., 2404 W. 7th St., Amarillo, TX 79106.
