Tulia, Texas-Fred Cargill, 76, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 10:00 am in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery in Plainview.
A visitation will be held from 6-7 pm Monday, August 13, 2018 at the funeral home in Tulia.
Fred was born on January 28, 1942 in Plainview to Alvin and Lou Anna Cargill. He grew up in Plainview and attended Plainview Schools. He was a longtime Fireman for the Plainview Fire Department. He participated in rodeos for several years and he trained race horses and was a truck driver. He married Betty Dillard in October 1961. She died in 2001. He later married Mary Ann Hunter in 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty, one son, James Fred Cargill, one step-son, Daniel Hunter, one granddaughter, Melanie Smith, his brothers, Charles Cargill and Robert Cargill and his sisters, Gwendolyn Sears, Lily Bench and Genevia Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Cargill of Tulia, his daughter, Debra Sharp and husband Brad of Tulia, his son, Justin Wayne Cargill of Tulia, a step-daughter, Malee Pearson of Nome, Missouri, a step-son, Patrick Hunter of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, three granddaughters, Sheree Britten and husband Billy of Canyon, Brittany Sturgess and husband Cody of Tulia and Whitney Tomblin and husband Dusty of Tulia, four step-grandchildren, Samuel Pletcher, Sarah Addison, Kalee Hunter and Emily Hunter and six great grandchildren, Lane Britten, Lexi Britten, Pecos Bradley, Kendell Sturgess, Rhett Tomblin and Flint Tomblin.
Memorials may be made to the Tulia Volunteer Fire Department.
