Weil, Leo Frederick,Sr.
Funeral mass for Leo Weil, 94, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Plainview, Texas, with Msgr. Nicolas Rendon officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Directors. Rosary will be at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, and visitation will follow from 6:00?8:00 p.m., at Bartley Memorial Chapel in Plainview, Texas.
A kind and loving and most patient husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, mentor, and friend died peacefully on June 23, 2018 in Waco, Texas.
Leo was born October 27, 1923, to Frank F. and Theresa Boes Weil in Plainview, Texas. He grew up on the Weil farm east of Hale Center and graduated from Hale Center High School in 1940 where he was very active in all sports. He enjoyed all sports throughout life especially those of his sons and grandchildren.
He married Dorothy Miller on January 2, 1945. They moved to the farm after serving and his discharge from the U. S. Army.
Active in the community, he served on the Hale Center Co-op Gin Board of directors, President of the Hale County Farm Bureau, President of the Texas Milking Shorthorn Breeders Association, Deputy Grand Knight and charter member of Knights of Columbus Council 4412, and supporter of the 4H Clubs.
During his semi-retirement he enjoyed wood working and helping his neighbors with their summer farming and their fall harvests.
He was a lifelong member of St. Alice Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy in his younger days, an usher, a lector, and a member of the choir.
Survivors include two sons Freddie and wife Lydia of Mansfield, Texas; Larry and wife Karen of Crawford, Texas. Four grandchildren Rick Weil of Friendswood, Texas; Clinton Weil and his wife Kristi of Arlington, Texas, Denise Weil Dietz and her husband Aaron currently living in Eschborn, Germany; Casey Weil and his wife Georgia of Stephenville, Texas. Ten grandchildren: Rae, Cole, and Lea Weil (Friendswood); Carter and Cash Weil (Arlington); Carson, Brady, and Hollyn Dietz (Germany); and Collins and Caden Weil (Stephenville). Two sisters Marie Byrd and Patsy Craddick and her husband Harold, all of Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Theresa Weil; sister, Louise Witkowski; and two brothers Bert Weil and Edward Weil.
