Merry Edna Cargill, 85, of Hale Center, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in Hale Center. Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Church of Christ in Hale Center with Mr. Silas Short officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Viewing will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, April 13, 2018, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center.
Merry was born January 1, 1933, in Hale Center, to Troy and Elsie (Brashear) Neeley. She married Franklin Lee Cargill on February 22, 1951, in Clovis, New Mexico. A lifetime resident of Hale Center, Merry was a member of the Church of Christ. Merry loved to cook, quilt, and was an exceptional painter. She was a member of the Hale Center Beautification Committee and painted many of the murals that can be seen around Hale Center.
Merry was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Franklin Lee Cargill, in 2013, and two brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Wayne Cargill of Hale Center, her daughters, Carolyn Sims and her husband Jimmy of Amarillo and Edna Lee Cargill of Hale Center, two brothers, Jerry Neeley of Deleon and Gerald Neeley of Hale Center, and two sisters, Margarette Cannon of Phoenix, Arizona and Clara Grimsley of Graham. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Anna Langford, Johnny Sims, Lisa White, and Joscelyn Logsdon and eight great-grandchildren.
