Brown, Dell, Mrs. (Patricia Ann Tanner)

Patricia Ann Brown, 83, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in the Family Life Chapel of First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the funeral home.

Patricia Ann Tanner was born January 30, 1935 in Olton, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Tanner, Sr. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1953 and married Dell Brown on September 23, 1953 in Plainview. She later earned a Bachelor?s degree in Education and a Master?s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Texas Tech University. She taught English at Plainview High School and later became a guidance Counselor. Mrs. Brown sponsored the Future Teacher?s of America for eight years. She organized the first drug-free program at the high school. She was a member of several professional organizations including the National Council of Teachers of English, Texas Association for Counseling and Development and Delta Kappa Gamma. After retiring in 1991, she was an adjunct professor at Wayland Baptist University supervising student teachers. Before beginning her career in education, she worked for the Department of the Air Force at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She later worked for the Veteran?s Administration in Lubbock.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie Tanner, Sr. and siblings, Bertha Pinkerton, Ray Tanner, Ruby Ogletree, Carl Tanner, Fayrene Jones, Gladys Patterson, Lonnie Tanner, Dorothy Loden and Bruce Tanner.

She is survived by her husband, Dell Brown of Plainview; her son, Kelly Brown of Houston; her daughter, Kassandra Brown of Grapevine; three wonderful grandchildren, Andrea Brown of Dallas and Christopher and Steven Brown of Houston. She is also survived by Nancy Vaughn of Tulia; Debbi Hutto of Lubbock; Tom & Rosemary Brown of Lubbock and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
