Gibson, Howard (Hoot)

Howard Gibson, age 90, of Plainview, known by friends and family as ?Hoot? Gibson, passed away on March 7, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Lemons Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brian Barkley officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Howard was born on March 23, 1927 in Ada, Oklahoma to Marley and Viola (Pullen) Gibson. Known by his coworkers as Hoot or Hoot Owl, Howard had worked for over 35 years as a City of Plainview employee. He was an extremely hard worker who during his time with the city assisted in everything from water meter reading to working at the water treatment plant to doing maintenance. After graduating, Howard served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Hoot insisted on taking members of his family to Sonic or Nu Griddle for food and drink outings. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed going Coon hunting. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sons, David Gibson and Michael Gibson.

Hoot is survived by his daughters; Diane Crawford of Portland, Oregon, Sandra Linville of Plainview, and Patsy Gibson of Plainview; a sister, Madeline Palosano of Farmington, N.M.; and nine grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
