Anita Davis Morgan died December 26, 2015, at the age of One Hundred One years.
She was born July 22, 1914, in Big Spring, Texas. Her parents were Charles W. and Isla Griffith Davis.
She had three sisters, all deceased.
Anita attended school in Big Spring until her sophomore year, when she moved with her family to a farm near Aiken, Texas. She then attended high school in Lockney, Texas.
She married Marvin J. Young who farmed in the Ellen community south of Plainview, TX. The couple had two daughters, Carol Ann Young Perkins (deceased) and Beverly Sue Young Hudgins of Plano, TX. Anita?s family moved to Plainview, TX, in 1943, where the daughters attended school.
Anita later married J. T. Morgan, an attorney in Portales, NM. The couple moved to Lubbock, TX in the 1980?s. Mr. Morgan died in 1995.
Anita was a non-traditional student at Texas Tech University, beginning her studies there in 1964 at the age of 50, graduating with a degree in Interior Design in 1968. She owned a craft shop in Portales for several years, and continued her studies in painting.
Mrs. Morgan was a member of St. John?s United Methodist Church in Lubbock, and she was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi women?s organization in Lubbock.
She had four grandchildren, Jerry Hudgins and wife Sheryl of Lincoln, NE; Roger Hudgins and wife Holly of Plano, TX; Tamra Perkins of Cedar Creek, TX, and Steven Perkins (deceased) of Bastrop, TX.
Anita is survived by ten great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by beloved nieces and nephews.
Burial Friday, January 8th. at Plainview Cemetery in Plainview, TX at 10:30 a.m.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 8th at 2 p.m. at St. John?s United Methodist Church, 1501 University Ave., Lubbock, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to her church, St. John?s United Methodist, or to a favorite charity.
