D.A. ?Doc? ?Ricochet? Griffith, 87, of Amarillo died Thursday, July 21, 2016.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with Charlie Cox officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Plainview. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mr. Griffith was born Aug. 22, 1928, in the family home in the country near Pampa to Dr. C.A. and Ethyl Griffith. He was raised in Hale Center. He married Nadine King on May 26, 1946, in Lockney. They moved to Panhandle in 1951 and made it their home until moving to Amarillo in 1970. Mr. Griffith worked in security for Pantex from 1951 until his retirement in 1991. He was a family man. He loved being a husband and dad and most of all, ?PaPa? to his grandchildren and family. As a young man, he was a semi-professional baseball pitcher as well as a boxer. As his kids were growing up, he coached them in sports and enjoyed being involved in their activities. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time at the lake with his family. He taught them all to ski at an early age. He will be remembered for being a man that could do, fix or build anything. He was a skilled woodworker. He was deeply loved and will be missed by his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine, on Nov. 17, 2013; a sister, Verna Mae Jones; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Griffith.

Survivors include a daughter, Vonda Marquez and husband Joe of Amarillo; three sons, Gary Griffith of Amarillo, Randy Griffith and wife Peggy of Shawnee, Okla., and Ron Griffith and wife Amy of Canyon; 13 grandchildren, Brandon, Stony, Stacy, Shawna, Brett, Craig, Scott, Lauren, Alex, Marisa, Kevin, Brian and Joel; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials be to Faith City Mission, 401 S.E. Second St., Amarillo, TX 79101.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
