Funeral services for Raymond Ragle will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Ninth and Columbia Street Church of Christ with Kelly Newman, a lay minister and flying friend from Graham, officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.
Mr. Ragle died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in Mangold Memorial Hospital in Lockney.
He was born July 17, 1907, in Weatherford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Henry Ragle, Lockney pioneers. On April 4, 1932, he married Ray Hays in Clovis, N.M.
He lived in Santa Fe and Glorieta, N.M. and Lockney before moving to Plainview in 1943. He was a rodeo performer, riding wild horses and bulls and often caught and broke wild mustangs to use on the ranch. He loved to ride motorcycles. He was a pilot for many years. He received his pilot?s training from James Miller in 1937 and they flew out of Bennett?s pasture southeast of Lockney.
He worked for Claude Hutcherson Air Service 21 years where he flew charter flights, was an instructor and serviced planes. Mrs. Ragle was office manager and bookkeeper.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Yvonne Sinclair of Abilene and Patsy Ragle of Midland; a sister, Bertha Smith of Mountain Air, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A son, Jerry Ragle, died in 1969. Two brothers and four sisters also are deceased.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family suggests memorials to Ninth and Columbia Street Church of Christ
