Graveside services for Elizabeth "Lizzie" Young, 94, of Abernathy, TX were held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 8, 2004, in the Abernathy Cemetery. J. D. "Dwayne" Young will officiate.
Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX.
She was born April 7, 1910 in Anson, TX, the fifth child of Charles F. and Florence Horn Buske. She married J.P. Young, August 3, 1929 in Abernathy and he preceded her in death August 24, 1995.
Lizzie was a homemaker and co-worker with her husband in family businesses throughout her lifetime. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, quilter, gardener and home decorator who taught her many skills to others. She was also an active member of the Abernathy Church of Christ.
She last resided at heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Lubbock. Lizzie went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 3, 2004 after an extended illness.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay L. Caffey of Oklahoma City, OK, son and daughter-in-law, J. D. (Dwayne) & Xanna Young of Brenham, TX, seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, J. B. Buske of Friona, TX and two sisters, Charlene Webb of Ft. Collins, CO and Ollie Nichols of Arlington, TX.
