Cuevas, Pedro, Mrs. (Dominga Solano)

Dominga Cuevas, 96, of Abernathy, TX, passed away at home on Saturday, March 29, 2014. She was born in Taylor, TX, on December 15, 1917, to Francisco Erineo Solano and Maria Ruperta Montoya Solano. Dominga married Pedro Cuevas on February 12, 1933 in Marlin, TX. She was a resident of Abernathy for 67 years and was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, where she was a Guadalupana and a member of the Women's Altar Society, serving as president for both organizations; she was also a Cursillista.

Dominga was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro; son, Daniel Cuevas; daughter, Inez Wade; daughters-in-law, Ninfa Cuevas and Lydia Cuevas; and grandsons, Danny Cuevas Jr. and Oscar Lopez Jr. She is survived by son, Bobby Cuevas, daughters, Manuela Cuevas, Amy Garcia (Jose), Mary Lopez (Oscar), all from Abernathy, and Janey Rodriguez (Ruben) of Allen, TX; 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren, and 2 grand dogs.

Visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2014, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, with rosary following. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Abernathy, TX, on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., with Father Rene Perez of St. Ramon Catholic Church in Woodrow, TX, and Father Jacob Puthuparambil of St. Isidore. Burial services will follow at City of Abernathy Cemetery.
