Stanton, Harold Mathers

Graveside services for Harold Mathers Stanton, 88, of Abernathy will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2009 in the Abernathy Cemetery with Daniel Stanton officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. The Stanton family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2009.

Mr. Stanton died Saturday, January 17, 2009 in Lubbock.

He was born on November 8, 1920 to William George and Lula Bell Brooks Stanton in Prosper. He married Laura Baker in Clovis, N.M. on October 30, 1941. He moved to Abernathy in 1945 from Lorenzo. He worked with farm equipment most of his life and was co-owner in a Case dealership in Abernathy. He retired from Case Power and Equipment after 20 years. He then worked with his son at Feagins Implement for 19 more years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Laura and brothers, Mack, M.B. and M.J. (Dude) Stanton.
