Robert ?Bobby? C. Rodriguez, 69, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, in Plainview, TX. A celebration of Christian Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview, Tx. with Father George Poonely officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Viewing will be on Sunday, February 11, 2018, from 4-6pm at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Rosary will be recited Monday, February 12, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

Mr. Rodriguez was born on July 30, 1948, to the late Jose B. and Heriberta C. Rodriguez in Sonora, TX. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1969. Mr. Rodriguez married Isabel Garcia on May 24, 1969, and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1969, and then was deployed to Vietnam in 1970 serving a 10-month tour. After returning home, he was stationed in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and White Sands, New Mexico. Mr. Rodriguez graduated from South Plains College in 1978 with an Associate?s Degree in Mid-Management. After 30 years of service as a postal carrier, Mr. Rodriguez retired from the U.S. Postal service in 2003. After retirement, Mr. Rodriguez worked part-time as a substitute teacher for Plainview Independent School District and was a driver for Spartan Transportation. A long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mr. Rodriguez served as a communion minister, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Rodriguez was a baseball coach for the Orioles and the Astros under the Optimus Baseball League from 1976 ? 1985. He served as a member the Plainview Independent School Board from 1987 ? 1995. Mr. Rodriguez was also a past member of the Hale County appraisal district.

Mr. Rodriguez was very proud of his service to our country. On Friday nights you would find Mr. Rodriguez cheering on the Bulldogs football team and band, he was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Loved his community, his smile was contagious, and he didn?t know a stranger. Most of all he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Sr. and Heriberta Rodriguez, three brothers, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Eulogio Rodriguez, and Jose Rodriguez Jr. Three sisters, Enedelia Rodriguez, Maria Perez, and Mary Ann Lopez.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Isabel Rodriguez of 48 and a half years, four daughters, Monica and husband Michael Rogers, Nancy and husband Carlos Hinojosa, Kimberly Gallegos, and Roberta and husband Isaac Rodriguez, as well as 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Floria Ramirez, Paula Rodriguez, Elvia Sanchez and one brother George Rodriguez. His father and mother-in-law Benito Sr. and Rosa Garcia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
