Bell, Earnest

Earnest Bell, age 81, joined our Lord and Savior in heaven on February 4, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Friday, February 9, 2018 in the Lemons Memorial Chapel with Steve Gauntt officiating. Arrangements under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-7:00P.M.

Earnest was born in Rising Star, Texas on June 13, 1936 to Florence Odessa Bush Bell and Marion Carroll Bell. Earnest enjoyed spending time with his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Earnest moved to Olton, Texas in the late 1940?s, where he helped farm. After graduating from Olton High School, Earnest enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Korean Era War; primarily stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.

After returning to Plainview in 1956, Earnest served his community as a fireman, postman and milkman. He went on to be a water well driller and eventually a Walmart truck driver; where he continued working until his retirement.

In a whirlwind romance, he swept his sweetheart Shirley Hatfield off her feet. Their two-month courtship made for a lasting 55-year marriage.

Some of Earnest?s favorite activities included spending time with his children and grandchildren. As an abundant story and joke teller Earnest could put a smile on anyone?s face. He also enjoyed watching Old Western movies, as well as laughing and joking while drinking coffee with his buddies at the New Griddle Caf?.

Ernest is survived by his wife Shirley Bell of Plainview, his daughter, Cynthia Pierson and husband Don of Plainview, his son?s, Keith Bell and wife Megan of Ashton Pennsylvania, Ronnie Bell and wife Leah of Lubbock, his grandchildren, Tyler Monroe and wife Kaile and their son Jax of Wolfforth, Tanner Monroe of Lubbock, Kinsley Monroe of Plainview, Madeline and Lyla Bell of Ashton, Pennsylvania, Seth and Becca Pierson of Lubbock, Dalton Pierson of Arlington, Dalton Pierson and Kristen Martinez and son Grayson of Lubbock, Cole Pierson of the United States Navy and great grandchildren R.J. Sanchez and Ryleigh Merrimon of Lubbock, two sisters, Barbara Garwood of Lubbock, Recie Bigham and husband Jim of Lubbock, brother, R.L. Copeland and wife Becky of New Braunfels, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Earnest is proceeded in death by his son, Russell Lee Bell as well as his mother, Florence ?Odessa? Bush Bell Copeland Rucker and father Marion Carroll ?Nuke? Bell.
