Bright, Jerald, Mrs. (Fadona Grace Sheets)

Grace Bright, age 82, left this earth to join her Lord and Savior on December 23, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Petersburg. Interment will follow at the Petersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Idalou, Texas. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore Rose Funeral Home in Idalou.

Fadona Grace Bright (?Nanny? to her grandchildren) was born August 2, 1935, in Spearman, Texas. She was the 6th of 11 children born to Eldred and Nell Sheets. She attended schools in Spearman, Texline and Canyon, Texas where she graduated from high school. In 1957, she graduated from what was then known as West Texas State University (now known as West Texas A&M University) and began teaching school in Petersburg. She soon met Jerald Bright who had recently been honorably discharged from the Navy. They were married in Canyon Texas and raised their children in Petersburg. Grace taught school in Petersburg for 38 years, during which she taught high school business, second grade, special education and also drove a school bus and taught adult education. She truly cared about her students and touched the lives of many children and young people. Grace was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ of Petersburg and also attended the First Baptist Church of Petersburg. 2012, she and Jerald moved to Mackenzie Place in Lubbock. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her Lord and believed strongly in the power of prayer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jerald, her parents Eldred and Nell Sheets, brothers Don Sheets and Shirley Sheets, and sister Letha Sheets Golden Banks.

She is survived by her daughter Ann Bright and husband Stan Wedel of Austin, son Jerry Bright and wife Rhona of Petersburg, son Sid Bright and Michelle Story of Lubbock; grandchildren Joshua Bright and wife Liz of Lubbock, Caleb Bright and wife Erica of Abernathy, Bethany Midgett and husband Matt of Petersburg, Jake Bright and Jackson Bright of Lubbock; and four great grandchildren, Cooper and Cole Midgett, Coyt Bright and Clara Bright. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to an education charity.
