Vecchio, Catarino (Pappy), Mrs. (Ofira Perez)

Services for Ofira Perez Vecchio, 89, of Abernathy will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Isidore Catholic Church with Father Rene Perez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Guajardo Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery under direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Vecchio died Friday 13, 2005 at Lubbock Healthcare Center. She was born July 25, 1915 in La Mesa Brooks County. She married Catarino Vecchio Aug. 5, 1933 in Falfurrias. He died Dec. 31, 1993.

Ofira moved with her family to Abernathy from Falfurrias in 1951. She was a cook, homemaker and a business owner and a member of St. Isidore atholic Church.

She was also preceded in death by one son, one grandson, three sisters and one brother.

Mrs. Vecchio is survived by seven sons, Elias, Thomas, Vicente and Robert, all of Abernathy, and Catarino Jr. of Plano, Richard of Amherst, and Eliazar of Garland; one daughter, Aida Vecchio Frausto of Amherst; one sister, Magdalena Lealof Corpus Christi; 31 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
