Robertson, H.B. (Shorty)

PETERSBURG -- H.B. "Shorty" Robertson, 94, passed away on Oct. 18, 2017. in Floydada, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Petersburg, with Nick DeLay officiating. Burial will follow at the Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg, Texas. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Shorty was born on Oct. 26, 1922 to Joseph and Ruby Robertson in Roswell, N.M. He graduated from Wolfforth High school and attended McMurry College for one year before joining the Air Force in 1942. He served during World War II from 1942 until 1945. After the war, he served as a second lieutenant in the Air Force Reserves until 1956. He was a Mason for over 65 years, a veteran of WWII, a deacon and Sunday school teacher and a school board member at Petersburg ISD.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sally Robertson and his second wife, Benita Thompson Robertson; one son, Hoopie Robertson; one son-in-law, Bob Pearson; and one brother, Jim Robertson.

He is survived by his children, Margo Harrelson and husband Stuart of Amarillo, Fud Robertson and wife Charlotte of Idalou, Joe Robertson and wife Kathy of Petersburg and Kyle Robertson and wife Darlenea of Petersburg; one daughter-in-law, Beth Ann Robertson of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren, Sam Pearson and wife Priscilla, Max Pearson and wife Adrea, DeLee Zint and husband David, Jeff Robertson and wife Emily, Sandi Kay Collins and husband Michael, Tanner Robertson and wife Ashley, Ryan Robertson, Kandis Lloyd and husband Chase, Carrie Beth Peterson and husband Heath and Kellie Rogers and husband Tim; and 22 great grandchildren.
