Nelson, Terry, Mrs. (Dena Browning)

A memorial service for Dena Nelson, 50, of Plainview, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at Prairie View Venue, located behind Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday before the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Nelson passed from this life on Oct. 17, 2017, in Amarillo.

Dena was born on March 8, 1967, to Ray and Betty (Barker) Browning in Wichita, Kansas. She married Terry Nelson on Jan. 5, 1990, in Guymon, Okla. From this union they had three children; Alicia, Kathryn, and Joshua.

Dena was very active in the Special Olympics. She was active for 20 years. Dena did everything she could to help the athletes here in Plainview. Being a part of this program was her true calling from God. She was raised a Baptist where her father was a deacon. Dena was such a wonderful person that had a heart of gold. Dena was an organ donor. With her donation she was able to impact and save the lives of 48 recipients. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 27 years, Terry Nelson; her mother, Betty Browning of Guymon, Okla.; her children, Alicia Evans and husband Bryan of Tulsa, Okla., Kathryn Ann Browning Marble and husband John of Hooker, Okla., and Joshua Nelson and wife Britteny of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren, Jessica Ellenlynn Evans, Adin Michael Evans, Christine Leigh Evans, Annabelle Marble, Brittany Marble, William Marble, Matthew Jacobs, Landon Jacobs, Preston Jacobs, John Marble, Abagail Nelson, Tuff Wyatt Delacruz and Rieanna Elizabeth Nelson; one great-grandchild, Dakota Marie Price; her grandmother, Bonnie Barker of Waynoka, Okla.; two brothers, David Browning and wife Robyn of Bloomfield, N.M., and Darin Browning and wife Cami of Guymon, Okla.

She is preceded in death by her dad, Ray Browning; and her nephew Duncan Browning.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Special Olympics, in honor of Dena.
