Rieken, Reiner,Jr.

Services for Reiner Rieken, Jr., 83, of New Deal, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the New Deal First Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Kirksey officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home Friday evening, March 9, 2012, from 6 until 7 p.m. Mr. Rieken died Thursday, March 8, 2012, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born to Reiner and Kuni Gunda (Schirmer) Rieken, Sr. on February 13, 1929 in Lubbock County, Texas. He married Clyde Theola Perkins on August 27, 1948 in Lubbock, Texas and she preceded him in death November 20, 1997. He was a lifelong
New Deal area resident and was a member of AA and Al-Anon since April 5, 1976. He was involved in Little League, Scouting and was a member of Farm Bureau. He is survived by two sons, Karl Rieken and his wife Sheryl of New Deal, Texas and Ron Rieken and his wife Rhonda of Lubbock, Texas.
