Isabel Fuentes Garcia, 79, of Hale Center passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2017.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Hale Center. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Isabel's honor at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Hale Center. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
She was born on March 27, 1938 in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico to Manuel Fuentes and Maria de Refugio Lopez. Isabel married Martin Garcia on March 29, 1954, in Plainview. Together they raised a beautiful family of eight sons and four daughters.
Isabel was a very active person. She had an independent spirit and loved being on the go. She enjoyed her garden, music and dancing. Her family remembers walking into her home and hearing her beautiful voice singing in the kitchen. Isabel loved dressing up and always looked nice. She constantly reminded her daughters to "think positive." Isabel loved her family and they will miss her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Armando Garcia in 1985; four grandchildren, Mijoy Sierra, Manuel Garcia Jr., Gary Garcia and Jeremiah Garcia. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Juan Antonio Fuentes.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Martin Garcia Sr. of Hale Center; four daughters, Mary Rodriguez of Plainview, Teresa Garcia of Austin, Isabel Garcia and husband Raymundo Duarte of Amarillo and Guadalupe Garcia of Hale Center; seven sons, Arthur Garcia and wife Sylvia of Amarillo, Martin Garcia Jr. of Carlsbad, N.M., Manuel Garcia of Houston, Gerardo Garcia and wife Nelda of Carlsbad, N.M., Jessie Garcia and wife Lisa of Virginia, Juan Garcia of Amarillo and Luis Garcia and wife Lydia Moreno of Carlsbad. She is also survived by one brother, Hilario Fuentes of Hereford; 43 grandchildren, 101 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
