Allen, William H.,Jr.

William H. "Jr." Allen, 70, of Bakersfield, California (formerly of Plainview, Texas) passed away on Sept. 20, 2017 in Bakersfield.

A funeral service for Mr. Allen will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, in the Lemons Memorial Chapel in Plainview, Texas. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery, 100 Joliet St., in Plainview under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 1, 1947, in Carthage, Texas, to William Horace Allen Sr. and Maudie Lee Smiley. Jr. worked for years in the agricultural industry. He enjoyed working hard and took considerable pride in what he did. He enjoyed playing dominoes and spending time with family and friends. He married Ms. Frankie Hearne on Dec. 23, 1989, in Happy, Texas. They were wed until her passing on Oct. 29, 2008.

Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie; his parents; his brothers, Walter Ray Allen and Johnny Allen; and one sister, Cherry Louise Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his fianc?, Lula Mathews of Bakersfield; his daughter, Clearance Hill and her husband Willie of Temple; stepdaughters, Yvonne Grant and her husband Adam, Shronda Mathews and Stacey Lyles, all of California; four sons, Tim Allen of Liberal, Kan., William Travis Allen, Irvin Allen, both of Plainview, Christopher Allen, of Temple; stepson, Houston Mathews of California; one brother, Cornelius Allen of Lubbock; and one sister, Benita Allen of Wichita Falls. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
