Graveside services for Jerry Murry, 73, of Plainview, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at Plainview Memorial Park with Oscar Chavez officiating and Toni Looney assisting. Arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Mr. Murry passed from this life on Aug. 31, 2017, in Plainview.

Jerry was born on July 22, 1944, in Wellington, Texas, to Freeland Paul and Willie Mae (Davidson) Murry. He worked as a butcher for 35 years, and managed the Uncle's gas station. He married Cheryl Howard on Dec. 3, 1966, in Plainview. From this union they had three children: Jerry Dewayne, Claude Bradley and Charles William.

Jerry loved going to old antique shops and often times would go over budget on antiques. He loved collecting antiques and doing things in his shop. He worked with the local Boy Scouts for numerous years serving as the assistant leader.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Murry of the home; children, Dewayne Murry and wife Terra of Washington State, Brad Murry of Lubbock State School, and Charles Murry and wife Sally of Big Spring; brothers, Bud Cason and wife Kathy of Hamon, La., John Cason and wife Gwen of Lubbock; sister, Carol McCauley and husband James of Frankston, Texas; five grandchildren, Shelby Head, Tyler Murry, Jimmy Murry, Brianna Murry and Noel Murry; and one great-grandchild, Ivan Alexander.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Freeland Paul and Willie Mae Murry.
