Thrift, Virgil, Mrs. (Gay Parr)
Gay Thrift, 83, passed away on Sept. 8, 2017. Graveside services will be held at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview, Texas, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, with Rev. Roger Foote officiating. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas.
Gay was born on Dec. 5, 1933, in Justin, Texas, to John and Grace Parr. She graduated from Justin High School in 1949 and attended North Texas University. She was associated with a Fort Worth-based finance company where she served as corporate secretary for 15 years. She married Virgil Thrift on Nov. 26, 1971, in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Shortly after, the couple moved to Clovis, N.M., where Virgil completed 26 years of service with the Air Force. During that time, Mrs. Thrift was a licensed Realtor and also worked at a CPA firm. Following Virgil's retirement from the Air Force, the couple moved to Plainview, Texas, where they raised thoroughbred horses. Virgil passed away in 2005. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her cousin Leonore Hicks and husband Skip; two stepdaughters, Oletta Pittman and husband Bill and Donna Alley and husband Skip.
