McGowen, Ronnie, Mrs. (Eva Darnell Smith)

Eva Darnell McGowen, 72, passed away on July 16, 2017. Funeral services will be held at Colonial Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Robert Malcolm officiating and Michael Cox assisting. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Darnell was born on Feb. 7, 1945, in Paducah, Texas, to J.R. and Monita Smith. She married Ronnie McGowen on Sept. 8, 1997. She liked to fish, cook and garden. She loved everyone she met and she was known as Granna to every kid she came into contact with. She adored her brothers and sisters and absolutely loved her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, one sister and one stepbrother.

She is survived by her husband Ronnie McGowen of Plainview; one daughter, Sherry Harris and husband Dale of Kress; three sons, Donnie Doran of Plainview, Rodney Doran and wife Shara of Plainview and Dale Doran and wife Christi of Levelland; her grandchildren, Trey Holmes, Tana Holmes, Nicole Vaughn, Shawn Harris and wife Kelly, Dalton Doran, Kayla Doran Megan Doran and Hailey Doran; her great-grandchildren, Ryan Holmes, Natalie Holmes, Kylee Vaughn, Aridacee Doran, Adilyn Garcia, Emery Garcia and Kiana Sophia Doran; and her four sisters, Nita Bloyed and Curtis, Linda Plemmons and Frank, Joy Scott, Teresa Brown and James; and two brothers, Don Smith and Sonya and Johnny Smith and Joyce.
