Weil, Leo, Mrs. (Dorothy Miller)

A Mass of Christian burial for Dorothy Weil, 92, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Plainview, Texas, with Rev. Jim McCartney officiating. Burial following in Plainview Memorial Park.

A Rosary will be will be at 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at Bartley Memorial Chapel in Plainview, Texas.

Dorothy was born Oct. 6, 1925, to Phil and Gevena Miller and grew up at Nazareth, Texas. Her senior year in high school, the family moved to their farm at Kress, Texas. She met her husband on the Plainview church steps in 1943. On Jan. 2, 1945, she married Leo Weil, a farmer living east of Hale Center, Texas. In December 2013, they moved to Stephenville, Texas, to be close to family, and they moved again to Waco, Texas. Dorothy's family was most important in her life.
She was an active member of her church serving in many roles throughout the years as a member of St. Anne's Altar Society and member of the choir at St. Alice Church. She was also active in many other organizations: Snyder Junior Home Demonstration Club, Hale Center Library, Pioneer Club and the Plainview Senior Dance Club. The fun years of dancing kept her young at heart. She loved music, especially playing the accordion.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Leo; two sons and their wives, Freddie and Lydia Weil of Mansfield, Texas; Larry and Karen Weil of Crawford, Texas. Four grandchildren Rick Weil and his wife Nichole of Friendswood, Texas; Clinton Weil and his wife Kristi of Arlington, Texas, Denise Weil Dietz and her husband Aaron currently living in Eschborn, Germany; Casey Weil and his wife Georgia of Stephenville, Texas. Ten grandchildren: Rae, Cole, and Lea Weil (Friendswood); Carter and Cash Weil (Arlington); Carson, Brady, and Hollyn Dietz (Germany); and Collins and Caden Weil (Stephenville).

She was preceded in death by her parents Phil and Geneva Miller; sisters Betty Mae Lane and Lois Thomas; and brothers Philip (Buddy) Miller, August (Buster) Miller, and John Henry Miller.
