Yerby, Howard L.

Howard L. Yerby, 84, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Parklawn Memorial Cemetery in Plainview with Pastor Kevin Oakley of Mescalero Baptist Church in Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home Inc. of Canyon.

Howard was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Stratford to Boyd Becker Yerby and Myrtle Yarbrough. He married Glenna Bell Campbell on Jan. 19, 1952, in Clovis, N.M.

He worked in the freight business for ICX. For fun, he raised quarter horses for many years. He was a veteran of the Air Force and a member of Mescalero Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Glenna; three sons, Douglas, Kenny and Dale Yerby; three brothers, Chester, Jerry and Danny Yerby; two sisters, Frances Nelson and Jolene Taylor; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
