Stroope, Charles Allen
Charles Allen Stroope, 89, of Mayfield, was born November 28, 1927 and went to be with his Lord, July 13, 2017, in Lubbock. He is now tending his cattle and getting ready to harvest his crop. He loved cattle, farming and flying, but most of all, he loved his family.
Charles lived in the Mayfield community for 66 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cotton Center. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945. On February 19, 1949, he married JoAnn Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carley and Ola (Carroll) Stroope, son, Steve Stroope, and two brothers, James and Marvin.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, JoAnn Stroope of Mayfield, his son, Danny Stroope and his wife, Sonjia of Mayfield and a sister, Marie Shinpaugh of Waxahachie. He was blessed with four grandchildren: Cody and wife Shannon of Pearland, Danya and Cal Bailey of Temple, Garrie Dawn of Lubbock and Kayla Stroope of Canyon.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 17, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Cotton Center with Brother J.D. Templeton and Brother Chris Collier officiating. Interment will follow at Center Plains Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 4:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, July 16, 2017.
