Maxine Carpenter, 91, of Levelland, formerly of Plainview, passed away on June 24, 2017 at the Lynwood Manor Nursing Home in Levelland.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at the Colonial Baptist Church, 910 Kokomo in Plainview with Pastor Roger Foote officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.
Maxine was born May 11, 1926, in Hamlin, Texas to Daniel and Dena (Parker) Branscum. She married Eddis Carpenter on July 20, 1946. Maxine worked hard all her life to help support her family. Early in her marriage with Eddis she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Paducah, Texas. She later worked several years for the Silverthorne Insurance Agency in Plainview, Texas. She and Eddis enjoyed 58 beautiful years serving and caring for one another until his passing in 2004.
Maxine was a devoted Christian who was active in several Baptist churches serving in many positions, some of which were Sunday school teacher and her favorite, playing the piano for Sunday service. She was a loving person and a devoted mother. She was a great source of advice and knowledge to her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and the many people in her life. She will always be remembered as a person who always had a kind word for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Eddis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mark and wife Cheryl of Lubbock, Texas, and Mike and wife Carolanne of Arboles, Colorado; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jueanez Groom, Pat Steel and Loveta Bruner; one brother, Neal Branscum and host of family and friends.
