Funeral Services for Jack H. Thomas, 86 of Plainview will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor David Gardner officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

On October 16, 1930, the late Jack H. Thomas, Sr. and Beatrice Bryant rejoiced the birth of Jack Howard Thomas, Jr. in Carthage, Texas. He later moved to Wellington, Texas where he graduated from Roosevelt High School. Bro. Jack attended Texas Southern University where he played basketball before joining the military. Bro. Jack served in the Korean War where he did tours in Germany, Spain, Italy, France and England. While in Korea, Bro. Jack was injured during a push on famed Pork Chop Hill. During his tenure, he received the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Metal, two Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Metal and the Purple Heart. On June 12, 1978, Bro. Jack and Ethel Hall were married in Plainview, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2002. He was the Chairman of the Deacons at New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Bro. Jack is survived by four daughters, Mary and Herman Moore of Amarillo, Anita and Willie Lacy of Plainview, Wyethia and Tommy Scott and Brenda and Corey Cornish both of Arlington, Texas; one brother, D.L. Thomas of Plainview; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Franklin and Charlesetta Smoots; a special friend, Ruby Ray; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; four brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
