Obituary
Meester, Foye Lyndhal
Foye Lyndhal Meester, 91, of Plainview, passed away on May 3, 2017, with his children at his side.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, in the Lemons Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at the Hale Center Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.
Foye was born on Dec. 18, 1925, in Abernathy to Herman and Mary (Williams) Meester.
He grew up farming in the Snyder community.
He married Bobbie Caddell in 1948 and together they had three children, Roger, Stephen and Rajean. They were married 53 years until Bobbie preceded him in death in 2001. Foye married Mary Katherine Sharp in 2003.
Foye attended Plainview High School where he was active in the Glee Club. He loved to sing and even aspired to attend Julliard School of Music in New York City. In fact, it was his claim to fame that he and Jimmy Dean both tried out for Glee Club? Foye made the group . . . Jimmy did not. He had a smooth soothing bass voice and he often read the news report at KBOP Radio. Foye attended DJ School in Los Angeles, California. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army and later settled in to farming in the Plainview area and later ranching in Hamilton.
Foye was a strong, opinionated, generous man. He cared deeply about his family. He held his mother in the highest esteem and that fondness never faded. He is remembered as a great storyteller. He could recall his childhood and personal historical life events and loved sharing those memories. His family enjoyed hearing those stories and will miss him greatly.
Foye was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bobbie; his sister Maylene Matlock and his brother-in-law, James Matlock.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Katherine Meester, of Buhl, Idaho; his daughter, Rajean Gully and husband John of Huntsville, Alabama; two sons, Roger Meester and wife Charlotte of Boerne and Stephen Meester and wife Donna of Burleson; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
