HALE CENTER -- Margaret Rose Louthan, 73, of Hale Center, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Lubbock. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Brother Kris Knippa officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors of Hale Center. The family will receive friends in the Family Center at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
Margaret was born Feb. 25, 1944, in Tacoma, Washington, to Carl and Gertrude (Ormsby) Williams. A lifetime Hale Center resident, Margaret graduated from Hale Center High School in 1962 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from West Texas State University. While at W.T., she was involved in the Delta Zeta sorority. She married William Lloyd Louthan on Dec. 29, 1991, in Plainview. Margaret started the dyslexia program at Plainview ISD and was the dyslexia coordinator until retiring in 2004. A member of the First Baptist Church, Margaret also was a member of the Pioneer Club, the Gideon's Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Jamestown Society. She enjoyed genealogy and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Mark Williams.
Survivors include her husband, William Lloyd Louthan of Hale Center; her son, Neal Bradley Wright of San Francisco; a brother, Carl Joe Williams of Hale Center; and a sister, Lucia McBeth of Kress. She was blessed with three grandchildren: Mallory Madelyn Wright, Gavin Daniel Wright and Arlo Ronald Wright.
