Obituary

Helm, J.E., Mrs. (Earline Craig)

Earline Craig Helm, 94, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2017 in Whitefish, Montana. Earline was born on July 3, 1922, five miles south of Hale Center, Texas to Roby Earl and Beulah Elizabeth Gilliam Craig. She was an only child and grew up in Hart and Olton, Texas, and graduated in 1940 from Plainview High School. She attended Lippert's Business School and worked for the Farm Security Administration in Floydada, Texas, prior to marriage. She married J.E. Helm in Plainview on Aug. 1, 1942, and they celebrated their 50-Year Anniversary before his passing in 1993. Born to this union were Sharon Kay Nichols, Lesa Lyn Pinkerton and John Loy Helm. J.E. and Earline were stationed in San Diego, California, during World War II and lived there until the war ended. They then moved to Halfway, Texas, where they were the third generation on the family farm, one mile east of Halfway, until retiring to Plainview in 1982. Earline lived in Plainview until 2007 when she moved to Midland, Texas. In 2012, she moved to Whitefish, Montana.

Earline was a faithful member of the Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview, the Fairmont Church of Christ in Midland and the Glacier Church of Christ in Columbia Falls, Montana. She was always available to bring food or assist those in need. She loved her Lord, her family, her friends and her country. She was a "stay at home" mom who wore many hats and raised her children to know that they were loved. Besides numerous church activities, she was a leader in the 4-H club and was active in many community affairs. Always a virtuous woman, hospitality was frequently a home cooked meal around her table. She encouraged her children in all their activities and was always there when they needed her.

Earline was a faithful Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Earline is survived by her three children and their spouses, David and Sharon (Helm) Nichols of Whitefish, Montana, Roger and Lesa (Helm) Pinkerton of Houston, Texas, and Loy and Kim Helm of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Brett and Tenille Nichols and their four children, Melody, Abigail, Bonnie and Charity Nichols of Arlington, Texas, Colter and Emily Roskos of Austin, Texas, Amanda Nichols of Whitefish, Montana, Matt and Megan Helm of Lubbock, Texas, and Madysen Helm of Midland, Texas, one sister-in-law, Frances Mason of Tyler, Texas, and three nephews, Steve and Roy Lee Mason, Brian Helm and families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Ruby Helm, her brother-in-law, Mick Mason and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, J.D. and Sue Helm.

A memorial service is planned for Earline at a later date. She will be buried in Plainview, Texas, at Plainview Memorial Park under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock, Texas, the Arms of Hope Children's Home or the charity of your choice. Many thanks to all her friends and loved ones for their love and support. A very special thanks to all those who lovingly cared for her at The Springs in Whitefish, Montana.
