Finney, Jake Q., Mrs. (Paula Ruth Barbee)

Paula Ruth Barbee Finney, 82, was born on Dec. 26, 1934, the older of two daughters born to Robert Luther and Mabell Virginia Connelly Barbee, and passed away on June 1, 2017. Paula graduated from Phillips High School, Phillips, Texas, in 1952, and West Texas State College, Canyon, Texas, in 1956.

She was a teacher in the Plainview Independent School District for 25 years and worked as a legal secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Plainview.

She is survived by daughter Kimberly Ann Finney Lackey and husband Randy Michael Lackey and sons David Alexander Lackey and John Benjamin Lackey; younger son Robert Bracken Finney and wife Cheryl Denise Becker Finney and daughters Lauren Michaela Finney and Kaitlyn Nicole Finney; and younger sister Linda Kay Barbee McAnelly. Paula was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jake Q. Finney; and Randall Scott Finney, their older son.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors, Plainview. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, First Baptist Church Chapel, Plainview, followed by burial in Plainview Memorial Park, Lanny Voss, officiant. Pallbearers will be Randy Lackey, David Lackey, John Lackey, Willis McCutcheon, Will McCutcheon and Brent Hackett.
