Dorcas, Danny LaRue

Danny LaRue Dorcas, 66, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017.

Danny was born on April 30, 1951, in Plainview, Texas. Danny grew up in Lockney, upon completion of high school he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country for four years on the aircraft carrier The Coral Sea. Danny was an electrician by trade. He worked on most cotton gins in West Texas. In 1996, Danny made a trek to Africa to teach the natives how to wire-in gins. He never saw a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand.

He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather; Marty Smith and Max Smith, and father, Myrl Dorcas.

He is survived by two children, Danielle Michelle Askins and her husband Jerry of Plainview, and Clayton Dorcas and his wife Amber of New Deal; five grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Smith and his wife Kyla of Lubbock and Denton Dorcas of Kansas; two sisters, Robin Stoerner and her husband Martin of Providence, and Lana Murphy and her husband Byron of Decatur; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
