Claudie Ray "Casey" Case, 90, of Mesquite, formerly of Plainview, passed away on March 16, 2017, in Mesquite.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017, in the Lemons Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the Funeral Home.

Claudie Ray was born on Dec. 18, 1926, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, to William and Ella (Todd) Case. Claudie Ray moved from Oklahoma to Plainview when he was a teenager and lived there until moving to Mesquite, Texas, two years ago. He married Billie Jo Collins on Oct. 21, 1950. They were married 60 years until her death in 2011. Together they raised three children, Rickey, Debbie and Randy.

Claudie Ray joined the Army in 1945 and was honorably discharged when the war ended. He worked as a rural mail carrier on Route 1, Plainview for 38 years. In addition to working for the US Postal Service, Claudie Ray farmed south of Plainview near Happy Union. He loved farming and especially growing cotton. He was an extremely hard worker and an honest, good man. He was a member of the Plainview Masonic Lodge #709.

Claudie was preceded in death by his wife Billie Jo; son Randy Case; parents William and Ella Case; one brother, Melvin Case; one sister, Clara Goswick; and grandsons, Cory Case and Steven Buchanan.

Those left to cherish his memory are one son, Rick Case and wife Jeri of Terrell, Texas; one daughter, Debbie Buchanan and husband Jeff of Benecia, California; one sister Christine Vinson of Tyler; five grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
