Alton Carmichael, 74, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Smith and Rev. Kyle Brock officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas.

Visitation will be held in the parlor on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Mr. Carmichael was born on June 10, 1942, in Seagraves, Texas, to William Harris and Mary Lois Carmichael. He married Neysa Walker on Feb. 5, 1966, in Plainview. Alton graduated Wellman High School in 1960 and attended McMurry University and Wayland Baptist University. He was a former state trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety from 1965-1968. He served in the National Guard for six years. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1968 until he retired in 1998. Alton was active in the church's River Ministry for 23 years and in the Central Plains Good Sams Club for 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Amelia Liddell.

He is survived by his wife, Neysa Carmichael of Plainview; one daughter, Alyssa Bellchambers and husband Michael of Opelousas, La.; one son, William Cory Carmichael and two brothers, Jerry Carmichael of Plano and Danny Carmichael of Lubbock.
