Funeral services for R.I. Cole, 75, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sharon O? Quinn, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
Mr. Cole died at 7:01 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Hamilton County. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Lexington.
He moved to Petersburg in 1947 and farmed.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite (Lubbock charter member), York Rite of the Shrine, and the Petersburg Lions club. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and was a former city councilman.
On Nov. 8, 1942, he married Tommye Jo Day in Clovis, N.M. She died July 26, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Sterley Bob Cole of State College, Pa., and Dayvid Lowry Cole of Lubbock; a sister, Alma Bagley of Longview; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Petersburg EMS.
