Kenneth Russell, 81, of Plainview passed away on Thursday Jan. 26, 2017, in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at First Baptist Church Chapel in Plainview with Dr. Tim Marrow and Rodney Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
A visitation will from 6-7:30 p.m. Jan. 29, 2017, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas.
Kenneth was born in Chickasha, Okla., on May 8, 1935, to Henry and Kizzie Ann Russell. His family moved to West Texas when he was 5 years old. His formative years were spent attending numerous schools across West Texas, graduating from Kress High School in 1953 where he met the love of his life, Dorothy McGee. Kenneth and Dorothy enjoyed 63 years of marriage with many happy memories. He retired from Westar, formerly known as Pioneer Natural Gas, after 25 years of service and was currently employed at the Mouser Insurance Agency in Plainview.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, George, Willard, John, Raymond Lloyd and Billy Steve; and two sisters, Alice and Geraldine.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Plainview; two children, Kenny Russell and wife Judy of Lubbock and Donna Reep and husband Mike of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Amanda Graham and husband Dean of Lubbock, Jacob Reep and wife La Rae of Lubbock, and Scarlet Biggs and husband Patrick of Nolanville, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Gracin Bonner, Connor and Kenna Biggs and Channing and Asher Reep, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth's love and devotion to his family and friends will be sorely missed on earth, but rejoiced in heaven, praise and glory to Christ Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the Trey Waller Fund at the First Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas.
